The Messages from an Ancient Era side adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom offers players a captivating journey across the skies of Hyrule. Investigating ancient stone tablets scattered across star-shaped sky islands provides deep historical insights into the kingdom's past while rewarding adventurers handsomely. Understanding how to initiate this quest, locate every hidden monument, and record the inscriptions efficiently ensures a smooth path toward full completion.

Starting the Quest in Lookout Landing and Kakariko Village

To begin this widespread expedition, head to Lookout Landing and inspect the fallen stone tablet in the central pool area. Speaking with the researcher Wortsworth triggers the initial conversation before he relocates to Kakariko Village to set up his research base. Visiting Wortsworth at his new location officially unlocks the task to track down twelve ancient stone tablets.

Each target monument is situated on a distinct star-shaped sky island hovering high above the surface of Hyrule. Equipping the Purah Pad's Camera function is essential, as taking clear photographs of the inscriptions is required to fulfill Wortsworth's research requests.

Locating the Star Shaped Islands Across the Skies

The stone tablets are distributed across major sky archipelagos, including the West Hebra, North Hyrule, and South Eldin regions. Reaching these isolated floating islands typically requires launching from nearby Skyview Towers or constructing custom Zonai vehicles. Some islands float at extreme altitudes, demanding clever battery management and flying machines to reach their summits.

Upon reaching a star-shaped island, standing near the central stone pillar allows you to capture a valid photograph. In several instances, the weight of the tablet causes the island's center to break off and plunge down to the surface below. If this happens, simply follow the falling structure to the ground and snap the photo where it lands.

Photographing Tablets and Claiming Your Rewards

When taking pictures with your Purah Pad Camera, ensure a red exclamation mark icon appears on your screen before snapping the photo. This visual indicator confirms that the image correctly registers the ancient Hyrulian inscription for quest tracking. Taking photos of unrelated stone slabs or shooting from improper angles will prevent Wortsworth from accepting the evidence.

After gathering photographs of all twelve tablets, return to Kakariko Village and present your findings to Wortsworth. He rewards Link with 100 Rupees for each successfully deciphered tablet, totaling 1,200 Rupees for completing the entire set. Upon delivering all twelve photos, you will also receive the exclusive Zonai Survey Team Fabric to customize your paraglider.
